Thoughts about my softball pictures

Keystone Cobras Softball Pictures- A few thoughts...

My purpose here is to exersize my hobby of  photography and to share whatever I can with the girls, their parents and family.  I do not charge nor will I ever charge for these type of pictures.  I encourage all to share freely.  My goal is to take the shot of each athlete that very few parents or family will ever be able to take.  The slide into base, the swing of the bat, the catching of a pop fly etc..  These take a fairly significant amount of time to process plus the game time.  But I find this relaxing and intriguing.

So a few things to keep in mind... These are never posed.  The "soft" rule in sports photography is that the ball needs to be visible.  If an athlete rarely touches the ball ( outfielders) there are significantly fewer photos of that athlete.  Lighting varies from game to game, ballpark to ballpark, and inning to inning.  Makes thing interesting.  The camera I use can lock focus on a player and track them as they run, but if another player steps in the field of "focus" it can blur the athlete I am focusing on- And frequently I will still post that picture because it is the only picture telling the story of the play.  It is not "good enough".  But rather "All I had"

I apply two rues to sharing- 1- Share freely with family friends, students teachers.  2- If you are inclined to post to social media such as Facebook- Please keep in mind that other athletes who may be in the same picture may not particularly want a Facebook posting... You should seek their permission- Not mine- Theirs....
